Strabag Romania in collaboration with the Satu Mare Municipality Town Hall announced the official handover of the new cable-stayed Transilvania Bridge over the Someș River.

The 644-meter-long bridge will stand as the longest cable-stayed bridge in the country and is the biggest infrastructure project completed in Satu Mare in the last four decades.

The construction, valued at approximately RON 200 million lei (€40 million), commenced in May 2020 and comes with a 15-year warranty period.

The bridge is supported by two 73-meter-high pylons and 56 high-strength steel cables. The cable-stayed assembly supporting the bridge alone weighs 227 tons and is engineered to bear a load exceeding 12,000 tons.

"Transilvania Bridge in Satu Mare represents our long-term commitment to building future-ready infrastructure solutions for Romania," stated Herbert Schuster, Commercial Subdivision Manager at Strabag Romania.

The bridge is designed to accommodate four traffic lanes, two pedestrian walkways, and a dedicated bicycle lane, significantly enhancing connectivity between the city's northern and southern districts.
