Norofert launches Brazilian fertilizer production line

Business Forum
Romanian agricultural biotechnology company Norofert  has officially launched its new fertilizer production line in Chapecó, Brazil, marking a significant milestone in its international expansion.

The move is a major achievement for the Romanian company, establishing a presence in one of the world's largest and most dynamic agricultural markets.

The project, which began in August 2023, culminated in the establishment of Norofert Brasil LTDA in 2024, a partnership with the Engenutri Group with equal participation from both entities. The construction of the production facility took approximately one year and involved a total investment of €500,000, equally financed by both partners.

Vlad Popescu, President of the Board, Norofert, said: "We want Norofert to become an ambassador of Romanian innovation in international agriculture, in partnership with the capital market. For Romanian companies that invest and grow, especially during challenging times, investments provide the opportunity to accelerate development and strengthen competitive advantages."

The facility has a capacity of 15,000 litres per day and was built using the same technological concept successfully implemented at Norofert's facility in South Dakota, USA.

The Brazilian production line will utilise bacteria produced at Norofert's research laboratory in Filipeștii de Pădure, Romania, which is the company's centre of excellence for agricultural biotechnology.

This strategic expansion is set to significantly contribute to the company's consolidated results. Over the next three years, the two production units in Brazil and the United States are expected to generate up to 40% of the consolidated turnover.

The company has already secured approval for 16 products under the Norofert brand, which are specifically tailored for local crops, including corn, soy, wheat, sugarcane, and coffee.

Brazil, with its over 96 million hectares of arable land and growing demand for innovative microorganism-based plant nutrition solutions, offers vast opportunities for the company.
