OMV Petrom opens largest e-charging hub in Romania

Business Forum
OMV Petrom is expanding its electric mobility infrastructure by adding rapid charging services for electric trucks, with 400 kW charging stations in its network.

The company now operates the largest electric charging hub in Romania at Miercurea Sibiului on the A1 highway. The hub has a total of 34 rapid charging points, with 17 on each side of the highway. 16 of the charging points are for cars and 18 are for trucks.

The charging stations are high capacity: the ones for electric cars have a power of 300 kW each and allow charging in 15-20 minutes. The truck charging stations have a capacity of 400 kW and can charge an electric truck in just 1.5 - 2 hours.

The total installed power for vehicle charging is 10 MW (5 MW on each side).

Charging services can be paid for via terminals installed near the charging stations, or through the OMV eMotion mobile application, available in the AppStore and Google Play.

"Our strategy for 2030 includes developing the most extensive network of electric charging stations in Romania, as part of our effort to support the decarbonization of transport," said the company in a press release.

The stations and related facilities were built under a concession agreement between OMV Petrom Marketing and the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR).
