OMV Petrom makes onshore gas discovery in Romania

Business Forum
Oil major OMV Petrom has announced a significant natural gas discovery in Spineni, approximately 70 km north-east of Craiova, southern Romania.

Well tests conducted on the discovery well have proven a production potential of 180,000 cbm of natural gas and 25 cbm of condensate per day, equating to a total of 1,300 boe/day.

The company has already invested approximately €15 million (RON 74.5 million) in this onshore project during the exploration phase. The next step will be the approval of the development plan.

Cristian Hubati, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Exploration & Production, said: "In 2025, we plan to invest RON 5.8 billion (€1.16 billion) in Exploration and Production, with nearly half allocated to onshore operations while also advancing offshore Neptun Deep, a strategic project that requires large-scale investment. We continue to invest in order to contain the natural decline in production from mature fields and to pursue new near-field opportunities in proximity to our existing operations."

Shares in OMV Petrom were up 0.53% to 0.75 lei on Thursday morning trading on the BVB.
