Rețele Electrice Romania launches tender of up to €94 million for network modernization

Rețele Electrice Romania has initiated a public tender on the electronic public procurement platform SEAP, with a maximum value of up to RON 465 million (around €94 million) (excluding VAT).

The tender is for modernization and maintenance works on medium and low-voltage installations in the Dobrogea operational area. This region includes the counties of Constanța, Călărași, Ialomița, and Tulcea.

The contract duration is set for 60 months, beginning from the date the framework agreement is signed by both parties. 

Mihai Pește, General Director of Rețele Electrice Romania, stated: "Through these investment and maintenance works, we continue the modernization and digitalization of the electricity grid, in order to create a resilient and robust energy infrastructure, given the challenges brought by both the energy transition and climate change.”

Rețele Electrice Romania operates electricity networks with a total length of approximately 134,000 km across three significant regions of the country: Southern Muntenia, Banat, and Dobrogea. The networks include 289 substations and more than 25,000 secondary substations. The company covers one-third of the local distribution market.

Romania's budget deficit drops to 5.72% on 10 months

Romania's consolidated general budget recorded a deficit of €21.8 billion (RON 108.87 billion) in the first ten months of 2025, representing 5.72% of GDP. This marks a decrease of €110 million compared to the same period in 2024, when the deficit stood at 6.22% of GDP.
