This is the first of its kind for the Coca-Cola System network in the country and is a key part of the company's commitment to sustainability.
The new solar installation is set to provide approximately 20% of the factory's annual electricity needs. This will reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly 1,200 tonnes per year. Approximately RON 1.5 million (€300,000) of the total investment was secured through a grant from the European Union's Modernisation Fund.
"This investment is clear evidence of our commitment to a greener future and to achieving Coca-Cola HBC's goal of reaching net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2040," said Cornel Cărămizaru, GM Coca-Cola HBC Romania. "The photovoltaic park is a sustainable solution that allows us to produce locally in a more responsible manner."
The factory, which began producing in 1993, became an official bottling plant in 1995 and has since become a strategic hub for the group. It currently produces around 284 million litres of beverages annually and exports to 15 countries.
The company continues to have a significant impact on the national economy, generating €911 million in added value in 2024 alone.
