Business Forum
Nova Power & Gas, part of the E-INFRA group, has announced the commercial operation of Romania's largest battery energy storage facility, with a capacity of 200 MW and 400 MWh, located in Florești, Cluj County.

The company also began construction of a 160 MW combined cycle gas power plant in Câmpia Turzii, which will become operational by the end of 2026.

The total value of both investments exceeds €350 million. Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan said: "Energy storage is the infrastructure of the future and represents one of the most efficient solutions to reduce system imbalances, better integrate energy produced by prosumers and, most importantly, keep costs under control for Romanians."

"Electricity production, storage and balancing services show Nova Power & Gas's investment strategy for the coming years. The company plans to become one of the main players in electricity and gas production and supply in Romania, as well as accelerated regional expansion in the coming years," said Teofil Mureșan, Founder and President of the E-INFRA Group.

Nova Power & Gas is currently the largest player in battery storage capacity, with 240 MWh operational. The company continues its investment portfolio, which includes developing a new 200 MW gas plant and over 600 MW/1200 MWh in future storage projects. Banca Transilvania serves as the traditional financial partner for Nova Power & Gas projects.

Cosmin Călin, Senior Executive Director for Large Companies, Structured Finance and Factoring at BT, said: "This project doubles the country's storage capacity and contributes to energy security, renewable integration and transition to a sustainable future."

BT has been the traditional financing partner of Nova Power & Gas.

The company generates over 550 GWh annually, including more than 350 GWh from renewable sources.
