The company will connect over 50 cities across Romania through 10 new lines, operated in partnership with local carriers.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment for Romania, as the transport market aligns with the European model of liberalized intercounty transport.
This liberalization is expected to foster increased competition, improved service quality, and more accessible prices for passengers, mirroring the success seen in other European countries like Germany, France, and Italy.
Adrian Rășoiu, Business Development Director for FlixBus Romania, said: "We want to provide a real and sustainable alternative for those who, until now, had no convenient transport options to travel within the country. We believe that, together with our partners, we can address not only the transport needs of Romanians but also support regional development and local tourism.."
The initiative has garnered support from Romanian officials and industry representatives, who highlight its potential to boost domestic tourism and enhance connectivity.
Coaches remain a top three transport choice for foreign tourists in Romania, according to Tudorel Andrei, President of the National Institute of Statistics.
