JTI expands IT hub in Romania

JTI's global IT hub in Romania is expanding, with the number of employees growing from 140 at the beginning of the year to 170 currently, and projected to exceed 200 by the end of 2025. The hub is one of six JTI technology centres worldwide.  

The hub plays a crucial role within the company, providing support to the 36 factories globally, eight research and development centres, and key business functions such as sales, marketing, finance, as well as people & culture.

The wide range of services includes business technology solutions, data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI and GenAI), software engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and operations.

JTI has over 1,500 employees in Romania, working at the HQ, the factory, the technology centre, and in more than 30 sales offices across the country. The production unit is globally recognised as a centre of excellence within the group, exporting to approximately 70 countries. The company has invested over €300 million in Romania.

JTI, a member of the JT Group of companies, is one of the world's largest producers of tobacco products, with operations in more than 130 countries.

Romania's budget deficit drops to 5.72% on 10 months

Romania's consolidated general budget recorded a deficit of €21.8 billion (RON 108.87 billion) in the first ten months of 2025, representing 5.72% of GDP. This marks a decrease of €110 million compared to the same period in 2024, when the deficit stood at 6.22% of GDP.

Romanian entrepreneurial group Agroland, active in retail, agribusiness, food production and animal nutrition, continues its expansion strategy by opening two new stores in Mega format in Odorheiu Secuiesc and Orăștie. With these openings, the Mega network reaches 36 units nationwide.

Over 27% of Romanians interested in buying heat pumps

Although heat pump technology for heating and cooling is increasingly present in public discussions, the actual level of knowledge and usage remains low in Romania, according to research conducted for the despre-energie.ro platform, a project by E.ON and Delgaz Grid companies.
