Bucharest tourist arrivals surge in early 2025

The number of tourist arrivals in Bucharest reached 777,756 in the first five months of 2025, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). May was a peak month with 189,594 arrivals, while January saw the lowest volume at 129,458.

The majority of arrivals - 651,004 (83.7% of the total) - were at hotels, followed by rented apartments and rooms, which accounted for 101,745 arrivals (13.08% of the total).

The number of overnight stays stood at 1,588,922 by May 2025. The net occupancy rate for accommodation varied between 37.4% in January and 54.9% in May 2025.

Nationally, tourist accommodation facilities, including rented apartments and rooms, registered 4.49 million arrivals between January 1 and May 31, a 0.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. 

Overnight stays at these facilities rose by 3.1% to 8.74 million.
