Strabag Group, with annual business of €520 million in Romania last year, reported a 2% increase in revenues at group level, in the first three months of 2024, up to €3.43 billion. At the end of March the portfolio of contracts and orders of the company is stabilized at €24.6 billion, while the number of employees increased by 2%, to 75,482 people.

According to estimates, for the entire current year, the group would reach a revenue level of 19.4 billion euros, in the context of an EBIT margin of at least 4%.

"The trends observed in the previous year continued in the first quarter of 2024. The situation on the individual markets remains challenging and there are still no signs of a reversal of the trend in the residential construction sector. Despite these developments, we managed to increase our order portfolio to €24.6 billion by the end of 2023, giving us a solid base for the rest of the year. We expect to see a positive boost, especially from future projects in the energy infrastructure and those of reconstruction, conversion and renovation," said Klemens Haselsteiner, CEO of the Strabag group.

According to the company's data, in the first quarter of this year, the most significant developments, in absolute terms, were achieved on the markets of Germany, Poland and Romania. The activity contracted in Austria, against the background of the steep decline in the residential construction market.

In Romania, Strabag started the year 2024 in force, by delivering the approximately 19 km express road that connects the Transilvania Highway (Biharia) to the Ring Road of the Municipality of Oradea (Santandrei) - one month ahead of schedule.

In addition, the company is approaching the completion of the modernization of DJ691 / LOT2 near Timisoara and is also progressing in the completion of the Hobanat Bridge over the Somes River in Satu Mare and the modernization of the Targu Mures Airport. At the end of 2023, Strabag Romania had a portfolio of works with a total value of almost €500 million.
