Romania's trade deficit rises to €27.5 billion on ten months

Romania's trade balance deficit (FOB/CIF) reached €27.493 billion in the first ten months of this year, increasing by €275.7 million (+1%) compared to the same period in 2024, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

FOB exports totalled €81.054 billion, up 4.3% compared to January-October 2024, while CIF imports rose to €108.547 billion, a 3.4% increase over the same period.

Significant shares in the structure of exports and imports were held by machinery and transport equipment (46.5% of exports and 36.6% of imports) and other manufactured products (27% of exports and 28.4% of imports).

The value of intra-EU27 goods exchanges during this period was €58.051 billion for dispatches and €78.39 billion for arrivals, equivalent to 71.6% of total exports and 72.2% of total imports. Meanwhile, extra-EU27 goods exchanges reached €23.002 billion for exports and €30.14 billion for imports, representing 28.4% of total exports and 27.8% of total imports.

In October alone, Romania's FOB exports totalled €8.874 billion, while CIF imports fell to €11.87 billion, resulting in a deficit of €3 billion.
