Regulator approves one of the biggest wind farms in Romania

Business Forum
Romania's energy regulator ANRE has approved the establishment of one of the largest wind farms in Romania.

The Ialomița Nord project, with a total capacity exceeding 246 MW, is owned by Portuguese company Greenvolt, a leading investor in the renewable energy sector, through its subsidiary Țăndărei Solar, according to Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja.

This project will benefit from the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, launched last year by the Ministry of Energy.

The project is among the first to qualify for the CfD scheme, ensuring its financing and guaranteeing the selling price of the electricity produced for 15 years.

“This initiative will create jobs in construction and operation, generate local taxes, boost economic revenue, and, importantly, provide clean and affordable energy produced right here in Romania,” said Burduja.

Romania currently has approximately 3,100 MW of installed wind power capacity.
