H.Essers acquires French transport company TFMO

Business Forum
Logistics service provider H.Essers, with chemical product warehouses in Bucharest and Oradea, announces the acquisition of TFMO (Transports Frigorifiques des Monts d'Or), a renowned French transport company. Located in Lissieu, near Lyon, TFMO specializes in temperature-controlled transport for the healthcare and food sectors.

Founded in 1962 by Paul Guerpillon, TFMO is currently led by Franck Guerpillon, the second generation of this family business. With a team of approximately 200 employees and a fleet of 152 own vehicles, TFMO has established a strong position in the temperature-controlled transport market for healthcare and food. This transaction will also allow for more capacity and a stronger network for the company's customers in EU.

A perfect match

The acquisition of TFMO aligns perfectly with H.Essers' growth strategy, enabling the logistics company to expand its presence in France by partnering with an established local market player. Additionally, TFMO's strategic location offers opportunities for sustainable international transport.

This acquisition fits H.Essers' asset-based approach, as they invest further in their own people and equipment to increase capacity. Moreover, both family businesses share the same values and culture, which was a significant factor for both parties.

Expertise & network

"We are very excited to welcome the TFMO team to the H.Essers family. The company's expertise and strong local network will not only strengthen our position in the French market but also significantly enhance our capacity to offer high-quality temperature-controlled transport," emphasizes Christopher Van den Daele, COO Transport at H.Essers.

"This acquisition also opens the door to exciting opportunities, such as the addition of our own healthcare crossdock and the expansion of our LTL concept. It aligns perfectly with our ambition to expand our footprint in Europe and complements our previous acquisition of Romano Trasporti in Italy last year."

Growth & development

Franck Guerpillon, CEO of TFMO, is also pleased with the acquisition. Franck Guerpillon says: “The acquisition by H.Essers offers our company new opportunities for growth and development. We are confident that the shared values and complementary expertise of both organizations will lead to a successful future for TFMO and its employees. Our customers can also benefit from the added experience and capacity of this internationally renowned logistics player. This acquisition brings numerous significant advantages for H.Essers, our employees, and our customers.”
