Ford Otosan delivers first EVs manufactured in Craiova

Business Forum
The Ford Otosan factory in Craiova marked the delivery of the first electric vehicles manufactured in Romania on Friday.

The three models, Puma Gen-E, E-Transit Courier, and E-Tourneo Courier, are destined for customers in Europe.

To support the production of electric vehicles, Ford Otosan has invested in localizing key components, including the establishment of a new battery assembly line at the local plant.

"The Ford Otosan factory in Romania is one of the most complex and innovative units within the Ford production ecosystem. Currently, the Craiova plant is the only one in Europe that produces both passenger cars and commercial vehicles on the same lines, in versions with internal combustion engines and electric," Ford representatives stated on Friday.

Starting in 2022, Ford Otosan has made a total investment of €500 million to support the diversification of vehicle production at the Craiova factory.

This investment has also contributed to the technological transformation of the factory, positioning it as one of the most advanced and flexible production units in Europe.

The plant has over 6,600 employees in the vehicle production area, as well as in the engine production unit.
