BYD enters Romania, plans local expansion

Chinese EV maker BYD has officially launched in Romania and is introducing a range of 100% electric and plug-in hybrid models to the country's automotive market. The initial lineup includes SUV and sedan models with various powertrain options.

The first sales centers are located in Bucharest, in partnership with Țiriac Auto and DAB Auto. BYD plans to expand its network to over 30 sales points across Romania by the end of 2025, including cities like Ploiești, Brașov, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Constanța, Pitești, and Craiova.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, said, "At BYD, our mission is to make our sustainable technologies accessible to as many customers as possible, so each new market in Europe is very important to us.”

BYD Europe has its HQ based in The Netherlands.
