Romania's inflation hits 10.7% in April 2026

Romania's annual inflation rate reached 10.7% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The consumer price index for April 2026 compared to March 2026 was 100.84%. The inflation rate from the beginning of the year (April 2026 compared to December 2025) stood at 3.1%.

The average rate of consumer price changes in the last 12 months (May 2025 – April 2026) compared to the previous 12 months (May 2024 – April 2025) was 9.0%.

The harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), used to determine inflation across EU member states, showed a rate of 100.73% in April 2026 compared to March 2026. The annual inflation rate based on HICP was 9.5% in April 2026 compared to April 2025.

The average rate of consumer price changes over the last 12 months based on HICP was 8.0% compared to the previous 12-month period.
