Romania inks first energy memorandum with Turkey

Romania and Turkey have signed their first memorandum in the energy field to improve energy security, renewable energy investments, and enhance regional infrastructure.

The agreement allows Romania to import up to 4 million cubic meters (cbm) of gas daily from Turkey, if needed.

According to a LinkedIn post, Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja stated "It is an agreement that offers stability in a complicated regional context.”

Burduja also discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Alparslan Bayraktar, the interest of Turkish investors in Romania's clean energy sector, ongoing gas developments in the Black Sea, and the construction update of the Tuzla-Podișor gas pipeline.
