Investments in West Gate Studios Campus exceed €500,000 in 2024

The search for accommodation for young people studying away from home started earlier this year than in previous years, beginning in early summer, as demand was very high relative to available spaces. All places in the private residential campus, West Gate Studios, part of the Genesis Property portfolio, a company founded by Liviu Tudor, were filled in record time this year, well before the school year began, and many young people remain on the waiting list.

West Gate Studios, the first private residential campus for young people in Romania, offers a total of 1,700 places in 850 studios and apartments. To provide accommodation of the highest standards, Genesis Property continuously invests in campus development and modernization. This year, total investments amount to over half a million euros, including in facilities aimed at increasing the comfort of young people. Approximately €300,000 has been allocated for new facilities such as a multi-purpose sports field, a digital visitor tracking system, the creation of a virtual tour of the entire campus through 3D scanning, and the redevelopment of leisure and social spaces. These are in addition to the annual investment of around €250,000 for refurbishing and restoring vacated rooms to their original standards.

”Accommodation for young people has been more sought-after than ever this year, with summer traditionally being the busiest time in the lead-up to the academic year. Especially after the pandemic years, which severely limited socializing, young people are increasingly seeking to integrate into a vibrant community where they can find others with shared passions and interests and engage in experiences and interactions that match their lifestyle. This trend is also reflected in the choices they make regarding their jobs or housing, particularly during their first years in a new city. At West Gate Studios, they find the comfort, facilities, and leisure options they desire, with up-to-date amenities and prices similar to last year's,” said Cristian Slave, General Manager, West Gate Studios.

The Junior Suite apartments were in high demand this year, offering over 35 square meters, air-conditioned rooms with balconies, and private kitchenettes. Among the most sought-after amenities are the modern library, comfortable study rooms, high-speed internet, swimming pool, and fitness room. Additionally, most West Gate Studios residents appreciate the easy access to the subway and are also interested in the accommodation's sustainability features.

“Sustainability is an extremely important issue for young people, who are increasingly concerned about how society will evolve in the future. They want to participate in events related to environmental protection, so during the 2024-2025 academic year, we will further meet their needs by organizing campaigns to collect electronics and clothing, reduce energy consumption, and recycle and reuse batteries, clothes, and PETs. Each year, we strive to integrate new residents into our close-knit campus community, which is built around strong social values,” said Mihnea Tudor, Community Manager, West Gate Studios.

Additionally, West Gate Studios has transitioned to full renewable energy for all campus buildings and is in the process of renegotiating its contract with the current waste pickup service provider to ensure proper waste traceability. The campus runs the "Community Spirit" program, which organizes events and activities, including donations to various NGOs and social or educational causes. Furthermore, the company encourages young people to participate in campus self-management by recruiting volunteers from among the residents. To support the professional careers of young people, West Gate Studios will resume organizing a career fair in collaboration with the tenants of West Gate Business Park and YUNITY Park, both office parks owned by Genesis Property, the company founded by Liviu Tudor.

In 2015, West Gate Studios became a member of the prestigious International Houses Worldwide (IHWW) organization. IHWW consists of 18 campus operators across all continents who share the name "International House" and a common mission "to provide young people of different nationalities and diverse cultures the opportunity to live and learn together in a community of mutual respect, understanding, and international friendship."
