Romgaz invests in real-time well monitoring

Business Forum
State-owned gas producer Romgaz has entered into an eight-year strategic partnership with Weatherford International to implement a real-time digital well monitoring system.

The collaboration will see Weatherford supply an automated infrastructure for a digital monitoring campaign across existing locations.

This technology is designed to collect and transmit critical data from thousands of wells, which will contribute to optimising production, increasing operational efficiency, and improving decision-making through cloud- and AI-based technologies.

Răzvan Popescu, CEO of Romgaz, said: “For the first time, we are implementing real-time monitoring technologies that will provide accurate data, essential for optimising operations. This project aligns with our innovation strategy and future readiness.”

The system will also provide continuous visibility on well conditions, enabling prompt interventions and more reliable operations.

The contract is part of Romgaz's ongoing investment in modern technologies to support the sustainable exploitation of natural resources.
